Dear Parents: Kids home from school but you don't know how to help?

Dear Parents: Kids home from school but you don't know how to help?

26 March 2020

Are your kids home from school but you're not sure how to help them? There are PLENTY of online resources for you that are free and easy to navigate, so don't stress!

Khan Academy is easily the best online resource for kids, teens, parents, educators and really anybody no matter their age who want to learn something or brush up on their knowledge.

Not only does Khan Academy have a wide variety of different courses from basic maths, English and humanities to more advanced courses like biology, economics, computer science and more.

As schools all around the world are closing due to the COVID19 pandemic, Khan Academy have compiled some resources to help parents navigate homeschooling for their kids with example schedules and an extensive list of "FAQs" on distance education and how Khan Academy might assist.

For any kids that are coding enthusiasts we obviously suggest parents have a look at our website and the resources we have compiled though we are more than happy to answer any questions via our social media or email if you're looking for something specific.

On our website we have a 'learn' page which has a breakdown of resources for each coding language and the official CoderDojo organisation have a projects website that has a bunch of fun projects and tutorials that kids and teens can do.

We told our ninjas at the end of our last term that they are welcome to email or message us with what they're doing and what they'd like to do moving on remotely and now we are extending this to the broader community, now that the QLD Government have more or less closed state schools.

Good luck parents and kids learning from home, I'm sure in the future when life goes back to normal post COVID19 we will all have a much deeper appreciation for our awesome hardworking educators.
